Media representatives from four continents have converged in Moscow for the World Content Market fair. This is the first time it has included a China Pavilion. The event has fostered important deals between major Chinese TV channels and Russian distributors.

2016 is the Year of China-Russia Media Exchange, as jointly announced by President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in May last year, during Xi’s visit to Russia.

And the China Pavilion at this year’s World Content Market has brought some TV dramas to the party, including a series entitled ‘Beijing Youth’; documentary ‘The Great Wall’; and the joint China-Czech cartoon series, ‘Panda and the Little Mole.’

Chinese and Russian representatives also discussed future cooperation on a broad range of fronts at a special forum.

“Representatives from both Russia and Kazakhstan have visited the China Pavilion, and they’ve made agreements with Chinese partners. They’re very eager to introduce Chinese TV dramas to their countries,” said Elena Sunbeam, World Content Market Moscow 2016 Spring.

“Chinese content broadcasting on the Russian developer's platform proves the potential for Russian-Chinese relations in the arena of new media development. It's significant that this agreement was signed in the year officially called ‘The Year of Media Exchange’ between the two countries,” said Cai Danxiang, China Radio, Film & TV Program Exchange Center.

World Content Market Moscow is one of the most influential events of its kind in Russia. This year, more than 1,500 representatives from more than 450 companies from Europe, Latin America, the U.S., and Asia have attended the event.
