Real Madrid was crowned European champion for an unprecedented 11th time Saturday.
The Spanish giants won after Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winning penalty in a 5-3 shootout victory over Atletico Madrid. The Champions League final finished 1-1 after extra time. Sergio Ramos gave Real the lead in the 15th minute. But Atletico substitute Yannick Carrasco scored an equalizer in the 79th minute to send the game into extra time.
Juanfran missed Atletico’s fourth penalty in the shootout before Ronaldo converted his to seal victory for Real.
