China's Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin says three legal documents concerning the China-Vietnam land border have been implemented effectively, since they were signed in 2009. The statement follows a review Liu had with his Vietnamese counterpart, Le Hoai Trung, in Nanning, capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Figures show that over 23,000 Chinese and Vietnamese border residents cross the border every day, twice as many as in 2010. Border trade has also increased three-fold since 2010 and is currently worth nearly US$70 million.

Both officials expressed hope that the peaceful negotiations of land border issues can set a precedent for the resolution of maritime disputes between China and Vietnam.
