Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Iran. Modi will hold delegation level talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The two countries will discuss issues including trade, energy and infrastructure. They are planning to develop Chabahar port in southeast Iran to expand a trade route for the land-locked countries of central Asia.

India also hopes to import more oil from Iran and develop a gas field there. Tehran has been seeking to reintegrate into the global economic system after world powers lifted nuclear-related sanctions earlier this year. Iran is India's second-largest crude supplier.
