Continuous torrential rain has caused severe damage to villages in the central hills of Sri Lanka.
Heavy rainfall triggered two massive landslides, leaving at least 37 dead and more than 200 families missing. The Sri Lankan Red Cross and the Disaster Management Center say around 350,000 people in the country have been affected. Soldiers and rescue worker are conducting evacuation operations.
The country's Meteorological Department says that a low pressure area is moving further away from Sri Lanka but there is a high possibility of more rain and strong wind in the south western of the country over the next few days.
