Brazil's Federal Supreme Court says it's analyzing a legal petition to open impeachment proceedings against interim President Michel Temer.
Justice Marco Aurelio Mello said the full court will debate the petition alleging Temer violated the law last year. He had signed four decrees to modify the state budget, without the prior approval of Congress. The petition was filed by lawer Mariel Marley Marra.
It had been struck down earlier this year by the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the Congress. Temer came to power on May 12th, after President Dilma Rousseff was suspended by the Senate in the lead-up to her impeachment trial.
