To the women with World Number One Serena Williams taking on 35th-ranked Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania for a spot in the final. Serena was not expected to have too much trouble, but after beating the fourth seed Victoria Azarenka in the second round, Begu was looking for huge upset.

But that's a tough task against the American who takes this point with a lovely drop shot, but it's still on serve in the first set.

Begu is trying to hang on, but what can you do about that and Serena would soon be up 5-4.

And Williams is going to break Begu to claim the first set 6-4, and it's never good to let the world number one have a lead.

It's all Serena in the second who now has match point. She goes behind the Romanian who manages to get it back, but Serena takes it 6-1 to advance to the final.

The other semi sees Garbine Muguruza in the white against Madison Keys whose backhand seals the first set in a tiebreak.

On match point Muguruza returns into the net and Keys takes the frame 6-4 to set up the first all-American final in Rome since 1970.
