Full coverage: 2016 Rio Olympics
Preparations for the Rio Olympics are really cooking these days. That's with the final tasting sessions for the meals that will nourish more than 18,000 athletes, coaches and staff from around the world.
Those lodged in the Athletes Village during the Games will be able to select from such foods as Brazilian, Asian, international, pasta and pizza, and kosher. Nearly all of the ingredients will be produced locally but some foods such as Korean kimchi will be imported.
In addition, 40 varieties of exotic produce such as caju, acai, and carambola will be on the menus. And as if that wasn't enough, the Olympic cooks will whip up 60,000 meals each day and the dining tent is three times the size of a soccer pitch.
