It's 8 pm Beijing Time, and 9 am in Brazilia, where the Rio 2016 Olympic flame has arrived at the Planalto Presidential Palace. We now live pictures from the torch relay.

After being received by Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, the Olympic flame will go on a 95-day journey around the country. The flame will travel more than 19 thousand kilometers, passing through more than 300 Brazilian cities, including all 26 state capitals. Each of the 10 thousand torchbearers will carry the flame for no more than 300 metres.

The first torchbearer is Fabiana Claudino, who led Brazil to Olympic gold medals in women's volleyball in 2008 and 2012 games. She will be followed by Brazilian mathematician Artur Avila Cordeiro de Melo.

Planalto Presidential Palace is the official workplace of the President. It was officially inaugurated in April 1960 by President Juscelino Kubitschek, who propelled the construction of the new capital city, moving it from Rio de Janeiro to the center of the country.
