To start with the Philippines presidential election, where the outspoken mayor of Davao City, Rodrigo Duterte is leading in unofficial results. With 90 per cent of ballots counted -- Duterte has about two-fifths of the votes. More than any other candidate.
Official results are not expected for several days. The Philippines next president takes office on June 30th. Duterte's hardline stance on wiping out drugs and corruption has won him widespread public support throughout the campaign.
"What I have is an ordinary leadership. If I can lead this nation to, not really greatness, but I would like to promise you a comfortable life under me. Comfortable - with food, not much crime, and drugs, I will suppress this to the very minimum if possible," said Rodrigo Duterte.
