The United Nations Security Council is due to release a statement on the DPRK's failed missile launches. The council has held urgent closed-door consultations at the request of the United States. The UN has also called on Pyongyang to stop its "provocative actions."

"These types of actions by the DPRK are extremely troubling and we would yet again encourage the DPRK to cease any further provocative actions and return to full compliance of its international obligations," Stephanie Dujarric, spokeswoman for the UN Secretary-Gerneral, said.
