Michel Platini is making one last attempt to see his six-year ban from the sport overturned. The former head of European football was given the punishment for a shady payment given to him by the old leader of FIFA, Sepp Blatter for consulting work. The fee was given years after the work was completed, and not documented. The Frenchman taking his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

And the 79-year-old Blatter, who was handed the same six-year ban, will testify at Playini's appeal. A favourable verdict and the 60-year-old will be able to return to his old position as the head of UEFA. If things do not go his way, it probably spells an end for his time in the sport.

The decision will also influence the upcoming FIFA congress, the European football body stated it will not replace Platini until all his appeals are exhausted, so if the former French star is successful with his appeal he could reclaim his job in time to preside over Euro 2016. A decision should be made before next week's UEFA meeting.
