FIFA President Gianni Infantino visited Cochabamba, Bolivia, as part of his South American tour. The newly-elected leader played an exhibition game against a team captained by Bolivian President Evo Morales.
According to FIFA.com, Infantino held talks with Morales, as well as leaders from the Bolivian Football Association and CONMEBOL. The meeting focused on the plans of the new FBF administration and the current situation of football in the country.
The FIFA leader also squeezed in some time for an exhibition football match against Morales’s all-star team. Infantino’s team included football greats Cafu, Fernando Hierro, and Roberto Ayala. They faced Morales’s team, which included some Bolivian football greats. After a goalless draw, Infantino’s team won 1-0 on a penalty shootout.
Infantino also checked on constructions plans for a new high-performance soccer center being built in Cochabamba. The leader expects the project to be completed by the end of the year.
“In a span of six months, I want to see the center finished. We should see results and, projects like the center and others will provide greater results for Bolivian football,” Infantino said.
