Cambodia and China have pledged to further promote their friendly relations. The news comes following a meeting between Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi and the Cambodian king, Norodom Sihamoni, and Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Wang said their friendship was forged by the leaders of past generations, and is something which means a lot to both peoples. For his part, King Sihamoni said he was determined to continue to promote their cordial relations.

Prime Minister Hun Sen had earlier expressed his gratitude to China for discharging water from a hydropower station to relieve the drought-hit countries along the Mekong River.
