"That is why Russia is actively working on renewables. We have a special program and its main principle is localisation. We focus on producing elements of renewable energy systems here locally in Russia. Given a certain level of localisation we will boost the development of renewable energy systems," he said.

"In particular in the next 6-10 years we plan to generate at least 8 gigawatts more of energy from renewable resources, with 6 gigawatts going to the wholesale market, and at least 2 gigawatts to regional retail markets. We have relevant stimulating programs for that...so we hope to make an input to development of these technologies."
