South Korea says it will summon a Japanese diplomat to protest against the territorial claims made in the Japanese diplomatic paper. South Korea's foreign ministry said in a statement that the country "deplored" the fact that the Japanese government once again made unjustifiable territorial claims to Dokdo.
It says the islands are an integral part of their territory historically, geographically and are under international law. The ministry demanded for Japan to withdraw these claims immediately. It is also urging Tokyo to stop making futile claims to Dokdo, and to squarely face up to history in efforts to open a new future for Seoul-Tokyo relations.
