Turkey has begun taking back Syrians from Greece, and Ankara expects more will be returning soon.  

Turkey's European Union Affairs Minister, Volkan Bozkir, says two Syrians have already been returned under the EU-Turkey migrant deal. Turkey grants Syrian refugees protected status when they first arrive in the country. Until recently, Syrians lost that status if they left. But now those rules have changed.

Ankara has agreed to give Syrians returning to Turkey protected status again. Turkey's cabinet approved the new rule last week, and it took effect last Thursday. Bozkir also announced a dramatic drop in the the  number of people trying to reach Greece from Turkey.
