The European Asylum Support Office, or EASO, has sent around 70 staff members to the island of Lesbos to help the country process asylum applications.
But the process has since been postponed due to the increasing number of applications. A Turkish interior ministry official said there will be no returns from Greece until Friday. However, many migrants still tried to reach Greece.
On Wednesday, patrolling Turkish coast guards apprehended about 60 migrants, including several Syrians. They have been brought to a coast guard station in Izmir province.
