The Netherlands is the only member in the 28-nation European Union bloc not to have ratified the Ukraine accord, which had already been given the thumbs up by both the upper and lower houses of the Dutch parliament.
The accord, namely the Ukraine-European Union Association Agreement, was signed in 2014 by EU and Ukraine and got approval from both parliaments.
But the deal has only so far been implemented “temporarily,” before it receives approval from all membership countries in the bloc. Once approved, it will significantly boost the Ukraine’s credentials for membership of the EU.
