Thai PM rules out use of force to restore order

2010-04-23 18:58 BJT

BANGKOK, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva reiterated Friday he would not use force to restore normalcy, Thai News Agency reported.

Abhisit said rule of law will be applied as the government is attempting to solve the country's political conflict.

His made the statement as all sections in the country are increasingly worried how the coalition government will deal with the prolonged "red-shirt" rally.

The anti-government "red-shirt" protesters insisted that there is no other solution to the crisis apart from dissolving the lower house of parliament and holding early election.

At the same time the Thais in various-color shirts opposed to the red-shirt demand are increasing pressure on the government to remove the red-shirts from their rally site in central Bangkok which they have been occupying for over five weeks.
