DPRK organization asks Japan to liquidate past crimes

PYONGYANG, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- An organization of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) demanded Japan "liquidate its crimes against humanity" committed in the past as soon as possible, the official news agency KCNA reported Sunday.

A spokesman for the Measure Committee for the Issue of Former Korean "Comfort Women" for Japanese Army and Drafting Victims issued a statement, which said Japan was attempting to deny and whitewash its past crimes while playing delaying tactics to convince the international community.

It said Japan was stoking up hostility toward the DPRK, and going to turn itself into a military power.

It strongly demanded the Japanese authorities regard the past liquidation as "the most important political issue which brooks no further delay and come out for its solution as soon as possible."

The statement was issued in the run-up to the 91st anniversary of the March 1 Popular Uprising in Korea. The Korean people launched a movement to revolt against the Japanese colonial rule on March 1, 1919.
