CANBERRA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Australian government has demanded Israel fully co-operate with a police investigation into the use of Australian passports by three people suspected of killing the top Hamas militant Mahmud al-Mabhuh in Dubai.

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith summoned Israeli ambassador Yuval Rotem to a meeting at Parliament House on Thursday.

"I made it crystal clear to the ambassador that the Australian government regards this as a matter of the gravest concern," he told parliament.

"I underlined to Ambassador Rotem that Australia expected the Israeli government, its officials and its agencies to co-operate fully and transparently with the Australian Federal Police investigation into this matter."

The Australian passports were in the names of Bruce Joshua Daniel, Nicole Sandra McCabe and Adam Korman.
