France condemns use of French passports in Hamas commander killing

French Prime Minister Francois Fillon has condemned the Israeli use of French passports in the killing of the Hamas militant in Dubai, and called for the truth about the killing to be established.

Francois Fillon, French Prime Minister, said, "France condemns violence in general and the use of violence in international relations. Secondly, like the British and the Germans, we have asked for an explanation from the Israeli authorities because a French passport was used in this operation and of course we want to know the whole truth of the issue."

On Saturday, Britain denied it knew that the assassination before it took place. The Israeli ambassador to Britain, Ron Prosor, was called to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Friday in relation to the case.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has promised a full investigation into the misuse of British passports.
