TEHRAN, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Iran's foreign minister said Iran and Brazil can play major roles in new world order, the official IRNA news agency reported Thursday.
"Iran and Brazil can play major roles in new world order, such as cooperating in global nuclear disarmament and at international arena," said Manouchehr Mottaki during a meeting with visiting Deputy Brazilian Foreign Minister Roberto Jaguaribe Gomes de Mattos, according to the report.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and international developments. Mottaki said "the political stands adopted by Tehran and Brasilia are very often quite similar."
He also said "The broad horizons for economic cooperation between the two countries include energy, commerce, investment and joint projects in third countries," the report said.
For his part, de Mattos stressed the diverse potential areas of cooperation between the two countries and said "In near future a high ranking Brazilian delegation would visit Iran to boost bilateral cooperation," IRNA reported.
The top Brazilian diplomat also said his country supports Iran's right to have access to full cycle of nuclear energy for "peaceful purposes."
In an earlier visit to South America, Iran's foreign minister said a new chapter in relations between Iran and Brazil had been opened.
Iran has made a considerable progress to participate in Latin America's projects after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad seized the power in Iran in 2005.
