BERLIN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Diplomats from UN Security Council's five permanent members plus Germany are to meet in Frankfurt to address the Iranian nuclear issue on Wednesday, a German foreign ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

The six nations -- the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany are expected to explore the solutions to tackling the thorning issue one day after Tehran said it would table a new package of proposals on the issue.

Last week, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a UN nuclear watchdog, issued a report saying Iran has slowed production of enriched uranium and agreed to tighten monitoring of its enrichment plant.

"Against the background of the latest IAEA report, now is the right time to discuss how to handle Iran's nuclear program going forward," German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said.

By press time, the exact time and place for the six-nation meeting has not yet officially announced.

Earlier on Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told a press briefing that China's Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei will attend the meeting in Frankfurt.
