Three generations of singers from the famous Tan family of Peking Opera performers visited their hometown, Wuhan, to sing for the local audience. Peking Opera lovers in other areas around China enjoyed the performance in their homes on a live broadcast.

It's rare to see grandfather, father and son of the Tan family sing in one performance. The descendents of the late great Peking Opera Tan Xinpei presented the classic Peking Opera "Union of Dragon and Phoenix" to a full house in Wuhan as well as the viewers around China on CCTV.

Tan Xinpei, who was born in 1847, established and developed his style to perform the male role in Peking Opera, which became and honored as the school of Tan. Tan Xinepi is a native of Wuhan in Hubei province. He moved to Beijing along with his father who is an actor of Hubei opera.

The performance of his descendents in Wuhan also kicked off a series of events. They will pay visits and tribute to the former residence and unveil a bronze statue of Tan Xinpei in the park which is named after the Peking Opera master. There are also several forums and lectures about the development of Tan school.
