The fifth China International Cultural Industries Fair has opened in Shenzhen. From TV and film to animation and publication, participants from around the globe have brought their best and latest products to one of China's biggest platforms of the cultural industry.

Over 17-hundred domestic groups and 15-thousand exhibitors from more than 55 countries and regions have shown their newest core products in the nearly 110-thousand square-meter main exhibition hall as well as in 30 branches in Shenzhen. Participants from Taiwan have also made their debut in the event.

Ren Yibiao, general manager of Shanghai Oriental Cultural Service and Trade Co. said, "It's been a platform for various companies in the cultural industry. From the second half of 2008 until now, business transactions totalled more than 70 million yuan RMB and 14 million US dollars respectively. And it's still rising."

China's movie box office experienced a 30% increase last year. The steady rise has attracted a great deal of domestic and overseas investment in China's film industry. The newly-founded Zhujiang Film Corporation is seeing this as an opportunity. Less than one year old, the company has formed its own chain of production and release outlets. Six new films will be made this year.

Liu Hongbing, the Board Chairman of Zhujing Film Corp. said, "The total investment is over 500 million yuan. Part of it is from our own funds but the majority is from the domestic market and overseas investors."

2009 has seen a new plan brought in for China's animation industry. Initiated by the Ministry of Culture, millions have been put into the project to support the innovation of China's original animation.

Along with the exhibition, the fair has also held nearly 300 relative activities from forums to performances.
