Li Changchun encourages cultural system reform

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, visited East China's Jiangsu Province from May 8th to 12th. He observed enterprises, villages, communities, and cultural institutions in cities including Nantong, Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, Yangzhou and Nanjing.

Li Changchun listened to the Jiangsu Provincial government's report and expressed satisfaction with Jiangsu's response to the global economic downturn and its accomplishments during the modernization course.

Li inspected Jiangsu Broadcasting, TV, Information and Network Joint-Stock Company, Jiangsu Performing Arts Group, the Phoenix Publishing and Media Network. He hosted discussions and listened to local cultural and art practitioners' reports. He highly praised the achievement and successful experiences they have made during the cultural system reform.

He says it proves the central government's policy of deepening the reform is correct. The policy meets the needs of the era, the expectation of the people, and the development of modern culture.

He asks Jiangsu culture practitioners to keep carrying out the reform, and offer a instructive example for the whole nation.

Li Changchun also visited communities in Nantong, Kunshan and Nanjing and talked with the local people. He stressed that local public culture service system should improve its services. More cultural facilities should be opened to the public free of charge.

At the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, Li Changchun placed a wreath to the victims. He says this year marks the 60th birthday of the People's Republic of China, and more patriotic education activities should be promoted and let people cherish the current living and strengthen the belief and confidence of the great revival of the Chinese nation.
