Taiwan will soon introduce new policies on cross-straits cooperation in the production of TV dramas.

The new policies will be based on the Development Plan for Cultural and Creative Industries, passed on Wednesday. The plan covers TV, filmmaking, and pop music. It's hoped the initiative will generate an output value of over 1 trillion Taiwan new dollars by 2012.

The co-production policy was formed in response to an offer from the Chinese mainland last year. The plan is expected to create 400 job opportunities in Taiwan in its first year.
