Taiwan dancer honored in Beijing

The jury of the prestigious International Movimentos Dance Awards has honored Taiwan dancer and choreographer, Lin Hwai-min, with a lifetime achievement award. Lin, who is leading the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre on a tour of Germany, is the second winner of the Movimentos award.

The 61-year-old Lin Hwai-min described the award as a surprise honor, saying he would never have clinched the coveted laurel without the support of his fans.

The jury of the Movimentos award is honoring Lin for his achievements in deriving the essence of traditional Chinese culture to create legendary masterpieces, with a strong sense of modernity that has helped to open new cultural horizons for Taiwan.
