季小軍出生在浙江義烏一個普通知識分子家庭。從小他就對朗誦和英語感興趣，這似乎預示著他未來的工作註定要與語言有關。
Ji Xiaojun was born in a typical scholarly family in Yiwu city, Zhejiang province. Since he was a little boy, he was interested in poetic recitation and English. One could see that he was destined to do work related to language later in life.
在大學裏，季小軍除了專心學習英語，還很熱心於主持方面的工作，在他的努力下，校園電臺重新建立起來，他也成為校園電臺的主持人。一次，學校請北京電臺的播音員給學生們做培訓，沒想到，這次培訓卻改變了季小軍的生活軌跡。
Besides working hard on his English, Ji Xiaojun was actively involved in hosting. Thanks to his efforts, the campus radio station began broadcasting again, and he became a campus radio host. The university invited several Beijing Radio Station hosts to give the students some training in radio hosting. Who could image that this training would change Ji Xiaojun’s life?
1992年，季小軍幸運地成為北京經濟廣播電臺的嘉賓主持人，並在那工作了三年，這段電臺的主持經歷給他打下了堅實的主持功底。1994年，季小軍大學畢業後，分配到國家教育部工作，暫時離開了自己熱愛的主持工作。
In 1992, Ji Xiaojun became a guest host at Beijing Economic Radio Station, and worked there for three years. In 1994, he graduated from college and was assigned to a job at the Ministry of Education. And so for a time had to say good-bye to the hosting work that he loved so much.
不管是幸運，還是巧合，總之，在英國諾丁漢大學的留學經歷，讓季小軍終生受益。
Whether it be luck or coincidence, Ji Xiaojun’s experience studying at Nottingham University brought him great benefits for the rest of his life.
從來沒有接觸過電視的季小軍，在沒來得及回味上電視的滋味的時候，電視已經向他敞開了懷抱。
Ji Xiaojun had never had any contact with television, and before he even had the time to savor the taste of being on TV, the medium have opened its arms wide for him.
