　　加菲貓的生活是完美的，它幸福地沉浸在自己最喜愛的三樣東西之中：高熱量食物、長時間昏睡和主人喬恩無限的寵愛。可是喬恩領養的小狗奧蒂把這一切全部破壞了，現在它們要一同分享食物和寵愛，而更過分的是，這只精力旺盛的小狗讓加菲貓酣睡的美夢也化為泡影。現在，在加菲貓每個殘破的夢中，他都在幻想著能夠將這個討厭的傢伙趕出自己的生活。

　　正如加菲所願，這只小狗真的在一個夜晚失蹤了，可是從它真的從身邊消失的時候，加菲貓看到了主人的失落和寂寞，同時也有生第一次感受到孤獨和自己應該承擔的責任，通過調查，它知道奧蒂是被一個卑鄙的馴獸師綁架了，現在加菲要暫別電視機和美食，為了營救自己的夥伴而一展肥胖的身手了……

　　Garfield has a perfect life. He immerses himself in the three things he loves most: fattening food, long naps and the loving attention of his master John. But John bursts Garfield’s bubble by adopting a dog named Odie into the household. Now Garfield must share his food and John’s attention with another pet, and worse yet, this frisky little puppy interrupts Garfield’s blissful sleep. Now, amidst all these shattered dreams, Garfield begins to imagine how to get this annoying little guy out of his life.

　　One night, Garfield gets his wish, and the puppy goes missing. However, once the dog actually disappears from his life, Garfield sees how lonely his master becomes, and at the same time, for the first time in his life, he feels a desire for companionship and a sense of responsibility for another. After some investigation, Garfield discovers that Odie has been kidnapped by a despicable dog trainer. Now Garfield must sacrifice his TV and delicious food, and put his plump body into action to save his buddy.
