Formation of Iraqi Interim governing council

The first meeting of the new Iraqi governing council took place right after it was established. This meeting was under the close supervision of the British and American occupation authorities, as well as the UN. Surprisingly the majority of Shiites hold most of the 25 member council seats despite their serious differences with the US over the new Iraqi constitution yet to be produced.

To take a close look at the significances and problems of the Iraqi interim council, we honored to have Mr. Peter Trubowitz, assistant professor of University of Texas at Austin and Mr. Tao Wenzhao, commentator on world affairs.
