The returned module of China's third unmanned spaceship "Shenzhou III" was transported to Beijing Wednesday and handed over to the Chinese Academy of Space Technology. After initial examination, experts said it's in good condition and will open it for technical analysis soon. Meanwhile, Chinese scientists said the experimental apparatus on board the craft has worked well. They also said the samples brought back were valuable for experiments on space life and space material sciences.

Experiments on space life sciences carried out in "Shenzhou III" included the space crystal growth of protein and other macromolecules, and biotic cell cultivation under space conditions. The space protein crystal apparatus aboard the craft, made solely by Chinese scientists, brought back integrated protein crystal samples obtained under micro-gravity.

Chinese scientists explored space crystal growth and the preparations of various space materials. The research will help in the design and improvement of ground materials, which enjoy great economic potential.

At present, the orbit-cabin of "Shenzhou III" is still in flight. On board are various experimental instruments, which will conduct experiments on the multi-spectrum remote sensing of the sea, land and air. Equipment to monitor the earth's radiation and the solar ultraviolet ray spectrum is also aboard the craft. Experts said it will aid research on environmental pollution, vegetation, and desertification
