NPC deputies urge transformation from science to productivity

At present, few scientific achievements have been transferred into productivity in China and this slow transformation cannot meet the requirement of China's rapid economic growth. Some lawmakers attending the ongoing NPC session have raised proposals concerning this situation.

The tremendous growth in China's sci-tech development has doubled over the last five years. This meets the government's agenda of "revitalizing the nation through science, technology and education" set down five years ago. But China still lacks ability to transfer scientific achievements into productivity. Many delegates from Beijing and Shanghai have proposed setting up a system to address this problem.

"It is necessary to build an efficient bridge between industry and science. The integration of scientific research and industrial application is crucial for the long-term development," said Chu Junhao, NPC deputy. He also said the new projects should be raised by both manufacturers and scientists.

Some other NPC deputies also proposed that although government has increased the investment in scientific research in recent years, it couldn't satisfy the demands of technology development.
