| Central government to continue supporting HK: vice－premier |

Vice－Premier Qian Qichen said Wednesday that the central government will continue supporting Hong Kong in its exchanges and cooperation with the inland areas, and help the Special Administrative Region （SAR） to tide over difficulties.
Qian made the remarks while joining in a panel discussion with deputies from the HK SAR to attend the First Session of the National People's Congress （NPC）, which opened in Beijing Wednesday morning.
On the current difficult situation in Hong Kong, the vice－premier said Hong Kong has embarked on "a road to happiness strewn with setbacks." He hoped that HK compatriots could stand full of confidence and work together to overcome the difficulties.
Since Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the central government has adhered to the basic principle of "one country, two systems," firmly abided by the Basic Law, and supported the SAR government in exercising administration according to law, Qian said.
No matter who will be put in charge of Hong Kong and Macao affairs in the future, the central government will not interfere in the internal affairs that should be managed by the two SAR governments within the scope of their autonomy, said Qian.
The vice－premier also thanked all the HK deputies to the NPC for their support to his work over the past years.
