The achievements China made in the last five years were hard-won and everybody can see them, Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao said in Beijing Wednesday.

Joining the Gansu group in discussing the government work report presented by Premier Zhu Rongji to the First Session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, Wen Jiabao said that the government work report reviewed the work in the past five years in the spirit of seeking truth from facts and summed up experience in nine aspects from the past practice. "This should be treated as a guideline to our work in the future," the vice-premier said.

The proposals put forward by Premier Zhu in his report for this year's government work stress the essentials and conform to reality, Wen said, adding that "Governments at all levels should earnestly act upon these proposals once they are adopted at the current NPC session."
