Chinese scientists say the country's fourth unmanned spacecraft, the Shenzhou IV, has managed to keep to a precise orbit and its descent module will land in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Sunday evening as planned.
The Beijing Aerospace Command Control Center says a series of major experiments have been carried out accordingly in physics, biology and bio-medicine. The spacecraft is using microwaves to carry out a remote-sensing survey of Earth, and monitoring the environment of outer space.
Compared with the previous three unmanned space capsules, Shenzhou IV represents the country's most sophisticated and fullest preparations for a future manned space flight.
The mission is backed by a ground-based search and rescue system and reinforced by other more reliable safety measures.
