| Mexican President outlines three priorities for APEC this year |

Mexican President Vicente Fox has defined implementation, capabilities building and wider participation as three priorities for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum this year on the eve of the 10th APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting.
Inaugurating a newly-built International Press Center in Los Cabos on Tuesday, President Fox said the APEC should first promote the implementation of commercial policies agreed upon by the forum over the past decade to facilitate economic growth in member economies.
Secondly, the 21-member economic forum should create and strengthen institutional and human capacities so that the communities of the Pacific-rim region may benefit from economic growth and have access to a more fair development with a human face.
Thirdly, Fox said, the forum should keep itself relevant to the communities of Asia-Pacific by expanding participation of people, especially through women and youngsters, which is the main feature of the APEC economic leaders’ gathering this year.
Leaders of APEC's 21 member economies are gathering here for their 10th informal meeting on Oct. 26-27 to discuss, among others, issues on trade liberalization and technological cooperation.
To ensure a smooth coverage of the event, the Mexican government has improved facilities in the small town at the end of Baja Californian peninsula to respond to the needs of international media from across the world.
The International Press Center, located on the tourist corridor of Los Cabos, can accommodate 1,500 people and has 45 press booths with transmission equipment for electronic media. About 200 computers and 80 laptop outlets are available with free Internet access.
