World trade ministers failed to beat the self-imposed Tuesday midnight deadline to end the five-day Doha conference concluding with a deal on launching new trade liberalization talks.
Emerging from a late night session, several delegates asked about the issue said they were not sure whether outstanding differences on all key issues could be ironed out early Wednesday morning.
A Pakistani delegate told reporters that it's now up to two to three key delegations to break the stalemate mainly focusing on agriculture and textiles.
He said the European Union (EU) still holds firm against the phase-out of farm subsidies while the United States and Canada remain resistant to "growth-on-growth" increase of textile imports from developing countries.
A EU spokesman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, called on concerned delegations to be "less tactical" in the 11th hour negotiations.
A World Trade Organization (WTO) spokesman told reporters there won't be a deal within several hours.
In corridors outside the conference hall, many delegates looked exhausted sitting slump in couch
