Detailed data on SARS in Beijing announced |
|
A senior official of Beijing revealed detailed data of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) cases Tuesday in Beijing.
Cai Fuchao, director of the publicity department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made the announcement at a press conference.
Following is the data:
Total confirmed SARS cases in Beijing: 1,897 (by 10:00 a.m., May 5)
In terms of age group:
0-20: 169 cases, or 8.91 percent;
20-50: 1,391 cases, or 73.33 percent;
above 50: 337, or 17.77 percent;
In terms of gender:
Male: 955 cases, or 50.34 percent;
Female: 942 cases, or 49.66 percent;
In term of profession:
Medical workers: 335 cases;
Officials and clerks: 229 cases;
Retirees: 198 cases.
Cai said that confirmed SARS cases of pre-schooling children were eight. A total of 136 SARS cases were students of primary,secondary and vocational schools and institutes of higher learning.
Nine farmers in suburban Beijing were confirmed to be SARS
patients, Cai said.
