France has condemned a suicide bombing at the French embassy in Mauritania and vowed to fight groups behind such attacks. A suicide bomber blew himself up near the embassy in the Mauritanian capital of Nouakchott on Saturday, wounding three people.

Witnesses said there was no major damage to the building. No group has yet to claim responsibility. The bombing came after the country's newly elected president, Mohamed Ould Abel Aziz, vowed to crack down on terrorist attacks. French Secretary of State for Cooperation, Alain Joyandet, said France would help Mauritania in its fight against terrorism.
