Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been sworn in for a second four-year term amid prolonged controversy over his election.
Taking the oath of office in Parliament, Ahmadinejad pledged to protect the constitution and frontiers. He also appealed for national unity and denounced foreign interference. He said he would strengthen foreign policy with more effective new plans.
Under the constitution, Ahmadinejad has two weeks to propose a government and offer a list of Cabinet members for approval in parliament.
