Israel tests ship-borne anti-missile system

The Israel Defense Forces says it has successfully tested the latest model of its Barak ship-borne anti-missile system.

A military statement said the test missile was fired from an Israeli navy vessel at a target representing an attacking projectile.

It said the "the incoming missile was successfully intercepted." The Barak system is designed to provide air defense for ships.

It launches in a vertical position to save deck space, and is able to fire at any target 360 degrees around the ship.
