Indian and Pakistani prime ministers have met on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement summit in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

The meeting between Manmohan Singh of India, and Yousuf Raza Gilani of Pakistan, raised hopes for a relaunch of the long-stalled peace talks between the two countries.

Before their meeting, Gilani expressed optimism about bilateral ties between the two nuclear rivals. Singh said India hopes Pakistan will honor its promise to take action against those behind the Mumbai bombings last November.

Bilateral ties between India and Pakistan deteriorated after the bombing.
