Medvedev made the comments during a news conference at the G8 summit in Italy on Friday days after he met with US President Barack Obama in Moscow.

Medvedev and Obama had reached preliminary agreement on the cuts of new offensive nuclear weapons.

But Moscow might not sign a treaty on the cuts unless the US abandons plans for missile defense facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Dmitry Medvedev, Russian President, said, "If our partners will show us their will to revise the missile shield plan, for which we hope, in this case, we will be able to achieve good agreements on all matters. If we are not able to achieve these agreements, you all know what the consequences will be. Nobody so far has proposed anything else and what I mentioned in my address to the nation is still valid."
