| China has stepped up research efforts for a vaccine to combat the spread of the A/H1N1 flu. |
Director of Vaccine Experts Group, Professor Zhao Kai, said Chinese production of A/H1-N1 flu vaccine is currently only for testing purposes and for use in research labs, and not for general public use. He said the vaccine will be manufactured and available to go on the market after relevant departments verify its safety and effectiveness.
According to current flu prevention and control measures, the vaccine is intended for storage to deal with a possible seasonal flu outbreak in autumn and winter. So far, 10 companies in China are engaged in A/H1-N1 flu vaccine research and production.
