Former US President Bill Clinton has become the United Nations first special envoy to Haiti... to help the country which has been devastated by political turmoil, poverty and natural disasters.

Clinton says he is honored and will do his best to help Haitians. The former US president will focus on economic and social development.
He also has the support of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who says Clinton is well-suited to the job. Clinton will be paid ONE US dollar a year and travel to Haiti several times annually.
