Jing Gangshan
If we ignore the depression and unhappiness past, Jing Gang Shan would be a very beautiful sightseeing spot.
The Long Tan Water fall companied by the mass forest creates a natural oxygen tank to its surroundings. Every year it attracts millions of visitors. To the Chinese, Jing Gang Shan has double meanings; one it represents the communist's history, the red army and Mao Ze Dong, which identified as Red Theme; on the other hand, this beautiful scenery offers tremendous tourists value to travelers that being called Green Theme.
Green and forest is the treasure of Jing Gan Shan. The air is fresh water is crystal clear. Long Tan water streams or called five dragon pound occupies total of 900 hectare. It is a combination of 5 waterfalls that last about 7 kilometers. Tourists can take the stone path walking along the waterfall to enjoy the magnificent view. It will take about 2 hours hiking through the national park. Every year, there are more than 12 million visitors come to pay the respect to this unique land.
To me, hiking through the villages searching for historical memories is the ambition. A small village just about 30 minutes away form jing gang shan new town got my attention. Many slogans left from the war still exist on the houses, residents here are farmers and many families somehow related to the Red Army in the past. I visited some elders in the countryside listening what they say about the past.
In the past decades, life does not change much in the countryside; Chen's family has been living in the same house for 5 generations. They still use the very simple tools that left over by ancestors through all these years. The tragedy history and war to Mr. Chen is not a story, it stored in his memory for ever, it seems just happened yesterday.
The slogan printed on the wall had been altered many times when power exchanged hands. Mr. Chen merely remembers the history of this house, but he told me that Mao Ze Dong lived at his family house at the wartime. Both red army and Guomingdang had been stationed in this house while he was young.
In August 1928, Guomingdang gathered its efficient ground power to fight Red Army from one of the most significant location 鈥 Huang Yang Boarder. To search for Mao Ze dong, Guomingdao army strip-searched every house, every corner, they did not miss any possible hidden place. Mao ingeniously escaped three times under their eyes.
