Trip to Yan An

The city of Yan'an is so well known in China that when its name is mentioned, people think of nothing else except it's special position in China's history of revolution. For thirteen years, between 1937 and 1948, the Communist Party of China seated its base here at Yan'an, after miraculous emerging from the 8000-mile Long March.

But if you visit the region around the festival times, you are sure to experience a much more crowded and traditional festival than in the big cities. Each year, on the fifteenth of the first month of the Chinese New Year, people here would organized large scale celebrations in downtown Yan'an. The parade would last for hours, attracting people from nearby counties. The noise, the crowd, if you are up to try a festival different from any where else, Yan'an wont let you down.

Places to visit in Yan'an: A number of former residence of the Chinese leader, such as Zaoyuan and Yang Jialing; the Yan'an pagoda; the 'Straight Road' built during Qin Dynasty, over two thousand years ago.

When you are around the region, try to visit a Cave Home, a kind of architecture only available in this part of China. It's quite a genius design.
